Letters of Recommendation

I have had the great fortune to work with Jett Green on 2 films, “Madagascar2: Escape to Africa” and “Madagascar3: Europe’s Most Wanted”.

As Production Designer, I art directed Jett on a number of our “hero matte paintings”, which were used for the key establishing shots in the film, but also to inform the rest of the matte painting team of the visual direction of a sequence. She was cast on these large pieces because of the incredible skill and vision she brings to her work and the confidence I have in her to deliver beautiful and usable pieces.

Jett is a talented, sensitive artist who brings the creativity and technique of a landscape painter to the new digital world of 3D CG Matte Painting. She does thorough research on her subject, no matter the scene, so that her paintings have all the authority of the real thing. She is flexible stylistically, able to create matte paintings for Madagascar one moment and a live action movie the next.

She infuses her paintings with cinematic drama when necessary and has a thorough understanding of light and how it plays on landscapes, cityscapes, and skies. She knows how matte paintings function in a scene and is able to seamlessly blend set pieces to the background using Photoshop and 3D CG modeling tools to virtually extend the sets.

Current economic times demand tight film budgets. Jett is exceptional at finding ways to use matte painting to complete a scene, when building it would be too cost prohibitive.

She is a great collaborator, a consummate professional and great communicator. I have worked with her predominantly in cross-site situations and her communication skills make this situation seamless.

I highly recommend Jett to any matte painting team. Her beautiful matte paintings elevate every shot she touches.

Sincerely,

I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Jett for many years. She is an amazing artist with high passion for her work and extreme dedication to her craft. Her work is just simply stunning. Jett has seen the industry change over the course of her career and no matter what medium she is required to create her work the outcome is always spectacular imagery!

I highly recommend Jett to anyone looking for a top notch Matte Painter.

I was fortunate to be able to work with Jett at various places over the years. I first met Jett at ILM when she returned to work on the Star Wars films in the 90’s. Then I hired Jett to teach and mentor students at the Academy of Art University for Texture Painting and Matte Painting. When I was offered the opportunity to start a new Matte Painting Department at DreamWorks Animation; Jett was the first person I contacted as she was an inspiration and I always could depend on her to do amazing work.

Jett is a rare person whom is really a true artist in the sense that she really puts her heart and soul into every project from Italian Street Painting to her singing. She brings to the table not only a professional eye but also a breath of knowledge of art in it’s many forms. I highly recommend Jett for Visual Effects and Animation Matte Painting. Jett is someone you can trust and will always be a trouper and make the process a success!”
